INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE
EinBlick
“It was great trying to let them imagine how our country looks like, what our life is about. It’s special to be able to communicate with other young people in different countries. I learnt a lot about other cultures.”
(Ndumiso Ngubane, student in South Africa)
„This project is a highly competent and successful example of media education within the context of international and intercultural exchange.”
(Federal Agency for Civic Education (BpB), Germany)
EinBlick (InSight) is a trilateral, intercontinental video exchange programme developed with the Goethe-Institut as part of the global PASCH school network. It connects students learning German through film - telling stories, exchanging perspectives, and building intercultural understanding.
Rolled out in 17 countries across five continents, EinBlick has become a vibrant platform for connection. In 2015, it was honoured with the Dieter Baacke Award for outstanding media education by the Society for Media Education and Communication Culture and the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.¹
An article about ‘EinBlick’ was published in a book on “Diversity in film and TV” edited by Ricart Brede/ Helmes from Europa-University Flensburg.
At Glocal Collective, we create film and media projects that bridge divides across cultures, identities, and generations. Film becomes a tool for listening, expression, and connection.
Our exchange projects foster empathy and understanding, laying the groundwork for inclusion, integration, and the celebration of diversity.
Our team brings over 20 years of experience leading participatory film projects in more than 50 countries, working primarily with young people from diverse cultural, social, and religious backgrounds.
We use an inclusive, collaborative approach that empowers participants to tell their own stories through film. Our projects explore themes such as sustainability, gender equality, migration, human rights, and intercultural dialogue.
Rooted in Participatory Video methods, our workshops develop skills in storytelling, research, critical thinking, and group collaboration, infusing the learning process with creativity, joy, and agency.
In-person workshops use professional film gear provided by Glocal Collective, while online sessions focus on smartphone filmmaking. Participants become filmmakers, interviewing, scripting, and producing films in small teams.
Each project ends with a celebratory screening, where the films are shared with an audience and spark meaningful conversation.
